Prague Accommodation for VisitorsPrague is one of Europe’s oldest cities and in recent years it has also become one of its most visited. The former capital of the Holy Roman Empire, the city welcomes over four million international guests each year. Currently, it is the sixth most popular city for tourists on the continent. Of course, tourists did not come to Prague in great numbers until after the fall of the Iron Curtain and the subsequent split of Czechoslovakia. It wasn’t until 1993 that the Czech Republic was born with Prague as its capital city. Then visitors came to the ancient city in record numbers. As a result, builders and city planners were forced to work as expeditiously as possible to accommodate the skyrocketing demand for rooms in Prague. That is why the first thing tourists tend to notice when they rent a room in city is that the overwhelming majority of hotels in the area were built within the last fifteen to twenty years. But Prague accommodation is not limited to the hotels. Like most of Europe, it is also possible to locate vacation rentals, homes and villas in the city or in the surrounding areas. Since Prague is quite a bit cheaper than most European cities, it may be possible to find luxury accommodation for less. Because Prague is an affordable and picturesque city, in recent years it has become a popular filming location for motion pictures. Fortunately, for these fine folks, Prague has a number of extended stay options from hotels to apartment rentals to expatriate housing. |
