Making a Homeless Persons Application

With the local authorities up and down the country selling off and getting rid of council homes whenever the whim takes them, it is absolutely no surprise that they have very few places left. This is the crucial factor that comes into play when a person finds themselves as being homeless and forced to make a homeless person's application.

At such a time, finding a place to live is never going to be that easy. You see, local authorities are fully aware of the fact that they have very little housing stock left and with this in mind, trust me, they will go as far as breaking the law to ensure that people do not eat further into that stock.

It is a legal requirement, on behalf of the local authority, that if they have any reason to believe that a person may be homeless or in threat of homelessness, that they must accept a homeless person's application. But does this always happen - absolutely not!

A local authority will blatantly lie to the applicant and do whatever they can to ensure that the application is not accepted. If you did ever find yourself in such a position, you should approach a citizens' advice bureau or Community Legal Advice for assistance with your application.

Local authorities hate these organisations getting involved because they realise that they are not going to put up with any of their unlawful nonsense.
